Job Title: Tax Sr. Manager, State Income and Franchise - Multistate Tax Services
Job Responsibilities:
As a Tax Senior Manager within the Multistate Tax Investment Management group, you will play a vital role in providing state tax and compliance solutions for a diverse client base in the investment management industry. Your responsibilities will include:
- Maintaining and developing strong client relationships on various tax consulting/compliance engagements within the investment management sector, servicing entities such as private equity funds, hedge funds, management companies, and family offices.
- Identifying client needs and leveraging the company's range of services and extensive resources to meet those needs, while cross-selling among various lines of service.
- Acting as a trusted business advisor to clients on a variety of issues including multistate tax planning, accounting for income taxes, restructuring, audit defense, and due diligence.
- Managing engagement profitability, billings to clients, and engagement team resources to ensure optimal service delivery.
- Assisting with drafting and presenting new proposals to both new and existing clients to expand business opportunities.
- Providing leadership, counseling, and career guidance for the development and motivation of the engagement team, ensuring a supportive and growth-oriented work environment.
Education and Experience Information:
To qualify for the position of Tax Senior Manager, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- A minimum of 8 years’ experience in state income and franchise tax, specifically within the Investment Management industry.
- Proven ability to grow and manage a book of business, with a solid reputation as a subject matter expert in state income and franchise tax.
- Demonstrated experience with state and local pass-through and corporate tax returns, as well as state tax planning, tax research, and tax analysis.
- A Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is required.
- Candidates must have one of the following accreditations:
- Licensed CPA in the state of practice/primary office, if eligible to sit for the CPA exam.
- If not CPA eligible, candidates must be a licensed attorney or an Enrolled Agent.
- Ability to perform job responsibilities within a hybrid work model that requires US Tax professionals to co-locate in person 2-3 days per week.
- Ability to travel up to 10%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Supervisory experience to effectively lead teams and manage projects.
- Experience in Public Accounting to provide a well-rounded perspective on tax practices.
- Excellent research and writing skills to produce high-quality tax documentation and analysis.
- Excellent presentation and communications skills to effectively convey complex tax concepts to clients and team members.
Salary Information:
The wage range for the Tax Senior Manager role takes into account various factors such as skill sets, experience, training, licensure, and certifications, as well as other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate is $131,740 to $299,910. It is important to note that it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range, as compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. Additionally, candidates may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, which considers factors such as individual and organizational performance.
