Job Overview
A prominent law firm is seeking an experienced Employment Law Partner to join its growing Employment Law Department. The ideal candidate will have over 8 years of experience in employment law, with a focus on Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA) litigation. This role offers a unique opportunity to manage PAGA claims and lead a team of attorneys in a collaborative environment, offering strategic legal advice and building client relationships.
Location
Duties
- PAGA Litigation:
- Manage and oversee PAGA claims, including class action-style lawsuits.
- Develop and execute legal strategies, balancing risk, settlement potential, and litigation costs.
- Supervise discovery processes, depositions, hearings, and trial preparations.
- Client Advisory & Compliance:
- Provide counsel on compliance with California labor laws, audits, and best practices to mitigate PAGA risks.
- Advise on policies related to wage and hour issues, employee classification, and meal/rest break compliance.
- Evaluate the impact of new legislation or case law on PAGA claims.
- Client Relationship & Business Development:
- Foster client relationships and identify business development opportunities.
- Deliver presentations and workshops on PAGA compliance and litigation.
- Develop new client leads through networking and leveraging the firm’s reputation.
- Team Supervision & Mentorship:
- Supervise and mentor junior attorneys, ensuring high-quality work.
- Review and approve legal documents, including motions, pleadings, and discovery responses.
- Foster a collaborative and professional work environment.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in employment law, specifically PAGA and class action litigation.
- Background in public entity defense is a plus.
- Excellent research, analytical, and negotiating skills.
- Strong written and oral communication abilities.
- Proven ability to proactively manage cases from start to finish.
- Member of the California State Bar in good standing.
Education
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
Certifications
- California State Bar membership required.
