Job Title: Senior Counsel
Job Responsibilities:
- Serve as a strategic partner and legal advisor on a wide range of legal matters related to Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contracts, operations, and procurement. This includes drafting, negotiating, implementing, and enforcing commercial agreements.
- Conduct legal research and analysis to support business needs and stay updated on relevant laws and industry standards affecting the utility-scale solar and battery storage industry.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess and manage legal risks associated with construction projects, business operations, stakeholder engagement, and dispute resolution.
- Represent the company in negotiations and disputes related to EPC projects.
- Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure adherence to laws and industry best practices.
- Manage external counsel and legal budgets effectively.
- Provide training and guidance to internal stakeholders on legal compliance and risk management matters.
Education and Experience Information:
- Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school.
- Admission to a bar in good standing.
- Knowledge of project implementation and commercial issues such as warranty, liens, force majeure, and scope/schedule changes.
- Strong problem-solving, relationship-building, and leadership communication skills.
- Experience analyzing complex legal issues, providing practical advice, and developing creative solutions.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams and managing external counsel.
- Minimum of 5 years of legal practice.
- Legal experience in engineering, procurement, and construction in energy spaces, including representing contractors/subcontractors.
- Experience drafting and negotiating contracts related to construction projects.
- Experience with laws and regulations applicable to construction (., lien laws) and procurement (tariffs and duties).
- Previous in-house experience is advantageous.
Salary Information:
For this role, the anticipated salary range is $150,000 - $250,000 per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, which may be issued as a monetary bonus or in another form. The actual amount may vary considering each candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities, and geographic location. The compensation philosophy is flexible, and candidates are encouraged to discuss details with their recruiter.
