Job Title: Attorney IV

Job Responsibilities:
The Attorney IV position involves supervising professional legal services of unusual difficulty and performing other legal services as assigned. The Attorney IV is responsible for supervising and reviewing the work of staff attorneys serving as Attorney I, II, and III. The role requires exceptional knowledge and skills in various legal domains, including principles and practices of law, legal procedures, administrative proceedings, methods and practices of pleadings, judicial procedures, and the rules of evidence. The Attorney IV is expected to apply legal knowledge and training effectively, determine alternative courses of action, analyze, appraise, and organize facts, evidence, and precedents, render logical, clear, and effective written reports and oral arguments, present and argue cases in court, and handle unanticipated problems smoothly.

Education and Experience:
The minimum qualifications for the Attorney IV position include graduation from an accredited law school and admission to the State Bar of Arizona. The candidate must have ten (10) years of relevant legal experience, with significant trial or litigation experience required. The candidate must possess and maintain a valid Arizona driver's license and have the ability to be covered by county insurance. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved may be considered. Preference may be given to individuals who speak Spanish and/or have governmental experience and/or experience in criminal, appellate, and/or dependency case law.

Salary Information:
The anticipated hiring range for the Attorney IV position is $75,000 - $110,000 annually, dependent upon qualifications. The position also includes a comprehensive benefits package, which includes membership in the Arizona State Retirement System.

The Attorney IV position is classified as unclassified, meaning it is not entitled to the rights provided by the Merit System Rules pursuant to Arizona Law. The position is open until filled, with applications reviewed upon receipt, and may close at any time. Work Environment:
Work is primarily performed under general supervision in a typical office or court setting with appropriate climate controls. The essential functions of this position require lifting, manual dexterity, and the ability to communicate. The position involves light work, exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently, lifting or carrying objects weighing up to 10 pounds, and requires a good deal of walking, standing, or involves sitting most of the time. Mental application involves utilizing memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability, critical thinking, adaptability, and creative problem-solving skills.
