Job Title: Assistant United States Attorney (Criminal Division)

Job Responsibilities:
The Assistant United States Attorney (AUSA) in the Criminal Division of the Sacramento Office is responsible for representing the Federal government in litigation involving the United States in the Eastern District of California. This includes handling a variety of criminal cases, such as complex white-collar crimes, child exploitation, narcotics, and violent crimes. The Sacramento office is organized into six criminal units: White Collar Crime, Special Prosecution, Transnational Organized Crime, Violent Crime & Firearms Trafficking, National Security, and the Training Unit. Typically, new AUSAs who are not already experienced in the . Attorney's Office or the Department of Justice begin in the Training Unit. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as training and experience progress.

Education and Experience Information:
Applicants must possess a . Degree and be an active member of the bar in any . jurisdiction. At least one year of . legal or other relevant experience is required. Ideal candidates will have three to five years of experience litigating cases with substantial responsibility for discovery, trial, and appeals. Applicants must demonstrate superior oral and writing skills, strong research and interpersonal skills, good judgment, excellent communication and courtroom skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a professional environment. Computer literacy, including experience with automated research, electronic court filing, and word processing systems, is also required.

Salary Information:
The salary for an Assistant United States Attorney is administratively determined based on professional attorney experience. The recruiting range for basic pay is from $81,960 to $192,307, which includes a % locality pay for the Sacramento area.
