Legal Internship Program - Office of the Attorney General - Department of Law - Summer Internship Program
Overview:
- Legal internship program for rising third year law students enrolled in an accredited law school
- Program runs from first week of June to second week of August
- $5000 stipend for summer internship
- Interns assigned to legal divisions/sections/units within the Georgia Attorney General's office
Divisions/Sections/Units:
- Government Services and Employment Division
- Solicitor General's Office
Government Services and Employment Division:
- Includes Education, Elections, Local Government and Judiciary, Labor and Employment, and Human Resources sections
- Interns exposed to a wide range of substantive work, including administrative hearings, federal litigation, client advice, and appellate litigation
- Work with active, practicing attorneys in preparing cases, drafting pleadings, conducting research, and attending various legal proceedings
- Opportunity to attend out of office events, such as prison tours and tours of the Public Safety Training Center and Georgia Crime Lab
Solicitor General's Office:
- Oversees appellate litigation for the Office of the Attorney General
- Collaborates with other attorneys in the Department on significant litigation
- Work often involves constitutional issues, statutory interpretation, and complex civil litigation
- Interns work with Solicitor General and Deputy Solicitors General on legal research, drafting motions and briefs, and preparing for court hearings and arguments
- Opportunity to attend court hearings

- Applicants must submit a completed Department of Law Intern Application and GBI Waiver, a statement of interest in specific divisions, resume, transcript, and writing sample
