Experience and Education Requirements:

- Minimum 8 years of experience in medical malpractice litigation

Job Responsibilities:

- Represent CAP physicians, hospitals or entities covered by MPT or CAPIC in medical malpractice lawsuits as the lead trial and arbitration attorney
- Formulate creative discovery and investigation strategy
- Prepare pleadings and respond to discovery
- Attend court appearances as required or by court call
- Ensure compliance with the Defense Attorney Guidelines by all legal staff working on assigned cases
- Ensure timely reporting of information/status to claims and client at all stages of litigation
- Responsible for all aspects of case management, including trial and arbitration
- Prepare and successfully try and arbitrate cases as requested
- Obtain concurrence with claims specialist on defense preparation and ensure cost-effective completion
- Employee education and awareness is an important element in the company’s cybersecurity program
- Responsible for being cautious and vigilant when opening emails, attachments, links, etc. on CAP’s computer equipment or when accessing the company system remotely
- Complete cybersecurity training modules periodically distributed by CAP’s IT department
- Demonstrate to all involved that client service and satisfaction are a priority by philosophy and example
- Excel in gaining recognition for client satisfaction
- Work well in difficult, emotionally charged situations while maintaining a calm demeanor/composure
- Constantly seek feedback from clients to provide a positive working relationship between the clients and the firm
- Review, respond to, and resolve all client complaints/concerns to ensure client satisfaction
- Perform other duties as assigned

Skills and Abilities:

- Effective courtroom skills
- In-depth knowledge of medicine and malpractice litigation
- Ability to lead and motivate others on the team to accomplish research, investigation, and trial preparation responsibilities
- Ability to mentor, train and build team enthusiasm among staff counsel
- Ability to assist as second chair in trials and arbitrations and in appropriate cases to take the lead as trial and arbitration counsel
- Ability to work independently

Client Relations:

- Seek feedback from clients to provide a positive working relationship between the clients and the firm
- Review, respond to, and resolve all client complaints/concerns to ensure client satisfaction

Education and Experience:

- . Degree
- Minimum 8 years medical malpractice litigation experience
- Licensed to practice law in California
