Job Responsibilities
The Global Financial Crimes Legal Manager is tasked with a variety of pivotal responsibilities that are crucial to the effective management of the company's legal and regulatory matters concerning global financial crimes. The core responsibilities include:
- Providing strategic guidance and oversight to the in-house Global Financial Crimes (GFC) legal team with a focus on mitigating financial crime risk.
- Coordinating and driving global financial crimes strategic initiatives to ensure the company remains compliant and secure.
- Overseeing legal guidance for day-to-day transaction requests to ensure compliance and risk mitigation.
- Maintaining and updating global policies and procedures related to financial crime to align with current regulations and best practices.
- Conducting training for business partners to enhance awareness and compliance with financial crime regulations.
- Monitoring and advising senior management on global regulatory developments across multiple jurisdictions to ensure the company remains informed and proactive.
- Providing counsel on regulatory inquiries, audits, and investigations from various regulatory and government agencies.
- Collaborating with the Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) team on pre-acquisition/divestiture due diligence and post-acquisition due diligence, as well as integration processes.
- Delivering strategic and thoughtful leadership to drive team performance and fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration within the team.
Education and Experience Information
Candidates for the Global Financial Crimes Legal Manager position must meet specific educational and experience requirements to be considered:
- Completion of law school with a Juris Doctor (.) or Bachelor of Laws (.) degree and admission to the bar of at least one jurisdiction in the United States is required.
- At least twelve years of experience as a practicing attorney with significant experience in sanctions, Anti-Money Laundering (AML), and anti-corruption laws and regulations.
- A proven track record of leading high-performing teams is essential.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, client focus, the ability to manage multiple priorities, attention to detail, and demonstrated ability to conduct research and analysis of legal issues are required.
- The ideal candidate will have significant experience in the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) and other sanctions regimes (., European Union and United Kingdom), the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), and the UK Bribery Act, as well as anti-money laundering laws and regulatory requirements.
- Experience working in the insurance industry and/or financial crimes regulatory agencies is preferred.
Salary Information
The salary for the Global Financial Crimes Legal Manager position is structured to reflect the competitive labor market value and the qualifications of the candidate. The salary details are as follows:
- Minimum Salary: USD $193, per year.
- Maximum Salary: USD $348, per year.
- Typical Starting Salary: Between $231,800 and $309,300.
- The typical starting salary range is determined by factors such as skills, experience, education, certifications, and location.
- The role offers the potential for progression as employees grow and develop within the position.
- Some roles at the company may include a compensation plan with commission and/or bonus earnings, which vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.
