The **Members Only** is currently seeking law students to join our 2025 Summer Law Clerk Program. This program offers a unique opportunity for law students to gain hands-on experience working with our attorneys in court, representing indigent clients in misdemeanor and felony criminal cases. Our program also provides the chance to work with specialized units within the office, including Mental Health, Immigration, Domestic Violence, Juvenile and Complex Litigation Units.
We are currently accepting applications for our Summer Law Clerk Program, which runs from June 2nd, 2025, to August 8th 2025. The application deadline is April 21st, 2025, or until positions are filled. This is a volunteer program and is open to law students currently enrolled in an accredited law school. All applicants must pass a background check and have a demonstrated interest in criminal law, trial practice, or public service.

Roles and Responsibilities:
• Working directly with attorneys in court
• Representing indigent clients in misdemeanor and felony criminal cases
• Assisting attorneys with research and writing projects, motion work, and trial preparation
• Participating in training seminars on criminal law, ethics, and trial practice
• Appearing in court, on the record, under the supervision of deputy public defenders (for certified law clerks)
Qualifications:
• Currently enrolled in an accredited law school
• Eligible for certification under the rules of the State Bar (for certified law clerks)
• Pass a background check
• Demonstrated interest in criminal law, trial practice, or public service
• Desire to work with indigent and underserved communities
