Overview:
- This position offers the opportunity to work closely with a . District Judge and gain valuable experience in legal research and writing, drafting orders and opinions, and case management responsibilities.
- The successful candidate will join a team of dedicated professionals at the Kansas District Court and contribute to the federal Judiciary's mission of providing fair and impartial justice.
- The position is open until filled, with a start date in August or September of 2026.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct legal research and writing on a variety of motions in criminal and civil cases
- Communicate with counsel regarding case management and procedural requirements
- Assist the judge during courtroom proceedings
- Perform various legal and administrative duties as assigned
Experience and Qualifications:
- Law school graduate with strong academic credentials (top 20%)
- Member of the bar of any state (applicants intending to take the bar exam will be considered)
- Superior research and writing skills, strong analytical ability and interpersonal skills
- Good judgment, initiative, and ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
- Proficient in computer-assisted research and Microsoft Word
Preferred Qualifications:
- Law Review or other notable journal experience
