About the Job:
- The position is on-site at SCAN's headquarters in Long Beach, California on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
- The Associate General Counsel is responsible for drafting, negotiating, and reviewing provider contracts.
- The candidate should be an excellent communicator, a curious learner, and able to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment.
- The position also requires strong contracting experience and a general health law background.

Responsibilities:
- Draft, review, advise, and negotiate a broad range of provider network contracts.
- Provide advice and assistance to SCAN's Compliance Department in ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Conduct legal research and analysis on state and federal laws related to healthcare.
- Act independently to provide well-informed and timely legal advice.
- Monitor and research market and industry trends.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to maintain strong relationships.
- Support the achievement of SCAN's vision and goals.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
- Law Degree from an ABA accredited law school required.
- California Bar admission preferred.
- Minimum 8 years of relevant legal experience in a reputable law firm or healthcare company.
- Extensive experience negotiating, drafting, and interpreting healthcare agreements.
- Expertise in providing managed care legal advice.
- Knowledge of federal and state healthcare laws.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Personal presence and professional demeanor.
- Ability to collaborate and adapt to change.

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
