Job Overview:
A respected law firm located in Kansas City, MO, is seeking a seasoned legal professional with substantial experience in public finance and commercial real estate transactions. This opportunity is presented through a legal recruiting agency representing the hiring firm. The selected candidate will work closely with institutional lenders, public entities, and private clients on complex financial and real estate matters. Duties:

  • Draft and negotiate various transaction agreements, including real estate leases, purchase and sale agreements, and general contracts

  • Prepare, review, and negotiate loan and collateral documentation

  • Conduct due diligence for financing transactions, including examination of title, surveys, organizational documents, and grant agreements

  • Provide legal guidance on commercial real estate matters, including finance, leasing, and development

  • Oversee compliance-related processes to ensure all required approvals and regulatory steps are completed

  • Manage real estate and lending closings from start to finish

  • Draft and interpret corporate and organizational documents

  • Conduct legal research and provide interpretation of statutes, regulations, and rulings in related areas of law

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with firm clients, supporting their business goals through practical legal advice

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in public finance and/or commercial real estate law

  • Demonstrated experience representing governmental bodies, financial institutions, or capital providers

  • Admitted to practice in both Kansas and Missouri, or the ability to obtain admission in both within one year of hire

  • Proven ability to handle complex legal matters independently while maintaining a team-oriented approach

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active and in good standing with the Missouri and Kansas State Bar (or eligible for admission within one year)

Skills:

  • In-depth understanding of property law and real estate financing structures

  • Familiarity with asset-backed lending and various types of commercial loan instruments

  • Strong drafting, negotiation, and document review abilities

  • Meticulous attention to detail with strong organizational and time-management capabilities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficiency in interpreting title reports, surveys, and related due diligence materials

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines

  • Commitment to delivering high-quality service in a fast-paced environment
