Job Title: Mechanical Patent Associate - Mid to Senior Level
Job Responsibilities:
The Mechanical Patent Associate will be part of the Intellectual Property Practice Group at a global law firm, working on various aspects of patent law. Key responsibilities include:
- Strategic development of patent portfolios, including patent procurement and prosecution.
- Client counseling and patent portfolio management.
- Supporting patent analysis and patent litigation.
- Working directly with clients from various industries, both nationally and internationally.
- Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to meet client needs.
- Managing a large docket with efficiency, ensuring all internal and external deadlines are met.
Education and Experience Information:
Applicants for the Mechanical Patent Associate position should meet the following education and experience criteria:
- Possess 2-5 years of patent preparation and prosecution experience, either in-house or as outside counsel, specifically in the mechanical arts such as recreational vehicles, industrial devices, medical devices, and consumer devices.
- A BS degree in mechanical engineering is preferred; however, candidates with other degrees will be considered.
- Additional legal, industry, and/or academic experience in mechanical engineering or related fields is desirable.
- Must have active bar admission in California, New York, Oregon, Washington, or Washington, .
- Registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with strong time management and organizational skills.
Salary Information:
The annualized salary range for the Mechanical Patent Associate position in California, New York, Washington, and Washington, . is $260,000 to $315,000. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. Full-time employees may also be eligible for a bonus, health insurance with an optional Health Savings Account (HSA), short-term disability, long-term disability, dental insurance, vision care, life insurance, Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts, 401(k), vacation, sick time, and an employee assistance program.
