Job Title: Director of Litigation
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead and provide strategic direction for the organization's litigation work, focusing on impact litigation to tackle social justice issues affecting the AAPI community.
- Serve as a spokesperson for the organization's litigation matters, fostering relationships with stakeholders and amplifying the organization's position as a thought leader in the AAPI and impact litigation space.
- Mentor and develop a cohesive litigation team, providing feedback and evaluation to direct reports, and building the team's capacity to handle complex cases.
- Collaborate with other members of the organization to support a healthy culture and achieve shared goals, including working closely with the CEO, Policy Director, Community Engagement Director, Demographic Research Director, and Managing Director of Client Services.
- Strengthen and deepen partnerships with the Board of Directors, particularly the Litigation Committee, to gain insights into relevant developments in the litigation space and secure support.
- Stay abreast of state and nationwide legal trends, and strategically deploy litigation, policy, and advocacy tools to impact pressing issues in the AAPI community.
Education and Experience Information:
- Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
- Active member in good standing of the California State Bar.
- Minimum of 4-6 years of extensive experience in public interest, government, or private legal practice in impact or complex litigation, including as lead litigator with co-counsel.
- Strong background in addressing social justice issues is preferred.
- Experience in and/or strong commitment to working with AAPI communities is preferred.
- Fluency in Vietnamese, Mandarin, Tagalog, Korean, Thai, Cantonese, or Cambodian is a plus.
Salary Information:
- The base compensation range for this position is $118,600 – $170,000 per year, determined in accordance with the selected candidate’s experience and qualifications.
- A generous benefits package is offered, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, life and AD&D insurance, paid sick days, floating days, holidays, and an end-of-the-year holiday break.
- Employees are eligible to contribute to their 403(b) on the date of hire and will receive an employer match (4%, increases based on tenure) after their one-year anniversary.
Additional Information:
- This position is hybrid, with the Director working out of the organization's offices in Los Angeles and/or Orange County, CA, and entails some local, state, and national travel throughout the year.
