Job Title: Director, Tax - Indirect
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead global indirect tax strategy and planning for VAT, GST, and sales/use tax across multiple jurisdictions.
- Provide guidance on business initiatives, mergers and acquisitions, and supply chain changes to optimize tax outcomes.
- Collaborate with legal, finance, and international teams to manage cross-border complexity and drive global alignment.
- Provide strategic leadership for transaction tax compliance, including oversight of return preparation, filing, and payment processes across numerous jurisdictions.
- Partner with tax technology teams to modernize tax systems, automate workflows, and ensure accurate tax data.
- Establish and monitor KPIs, controls, and quality assurance procedures to maintain compliance excellence.
- Oversee audit defense strategies and manage indirect tax controversies across federal, state, local, and international jurisdictions.
- Drive risk mitigation strategies, improve audit readiness, and establish strong external relationships with tax authorities.
- Lead data analytics and cross-functional collaboration to strengthen documentation, transparency, and issue resolution processes.
Education and Experience Information:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in indirect tax, including leadership roles in a complex, multinational, or multistate environment.
- Deep expertise in VAT/GST, sales and use tax, or indirect tax audit/controversy.
- Proven success in leading high-performing teams and managing complex cross-functional initiatives.
- Strong executive communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Advanced degree in Taxation, JD, CPA, or equivalent certification preferred.
- Fluency with tax technology and data tools like Alteryx, Power BI, SQL is a strong plus.
- Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field and 5 years’ experience in accounting, income tax compliance, payroll tax, or related area OR 7 years’ experience in the same fields.
- 3 years of supervisory experience.
- Preferred qualifications include leading cross-functional projects, a license to practice law in at least one state, and advanced degrees such as a ., Masters in Accounting, Business, Economics, Finance, or Law.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification is preferred.
Salary Information:
- The annual salary range for this position is $130, to $260,.
- Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
- Additional compensation for certain positions may also include stock options.
