Handle a variety of music industry transactions, including:
Recording agreements
Album clearance
Music publishing and administration agreements
Catalog acquisitions and sales
Management and joint venture agreements
Sponsorships, endorsements, and digital licensing
Advise clients on legal matters involving copyright, AI, and intellectual property
Support M&A transactions in the music industry through due diligence and negotiation of acquisition, sale, and financing documents
Collaborate with a high-performing, specialized music law team on deal execution
Provide legal counsel to a wide array of entertainment sector clients
3–6 years of legal experience specifically in the music industry
Experience in either a reputable law firm or in-house legal department
Background in areas such as:
Music publishing
Recorded music
Artist management
Sponsorships and endorsements
Live touring
Digital music licensing
Knowledge of copyright law, termination rights, rights of publicity (name, image, likeness, voice), and trademark law
Experience in music catalog sales and acquisitions preferred but not required
Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited law school
Active membership in good standing with the California State Bar
Excellent written and verbal communication
Strong legal judgment and business acumen
Proficiency in managing complex transactions
Team-oriented with the ability to work autonomously
Ambition to grow within the firm and advance toward partnership
Ability to manage multiple high-level deals under tight deadlines
