Location

Duties

  • Handle a variety of music industry transactions, including:

    • Recording agreements

    • Album clearance

    • Music publishing and administration agreements

    • Catalog acquisitions and sales

    • Management and joint venture agreements

    • Sponsorships, endorsements, and digital licensing

  • Advise clients on legal matters involving copyright, AI, and intellectual property

  • Support M&A transactions in the music industry through due diligence and negotiation of acquisition, sale, and financing documents

  • Collaborate with a high-performing, specialized music law team on deal execution

  • Provide legal counsel to a wide array of entertainment sector clients

Requirements

  • 3–6 years of legal experience specifically in the music industry

  • Experience in either a reputable law firm or in-house legal department

  • Background in areas such as:

    • Music publishing

    • Recorded music

    • Artist management

    • Sponsorships and endorsements

    • Live touring

    • Digital music licensing

  • Knowledge of copyright law, termination rights, rights of publicity (name, image, likeness, voice), and trademark law

  • Experience in music catalog sales and acquisitions preferred but not required

Education

  • Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited law school

Certifications

  • Active membership in good standing with the California State Bar

Skills
