Job Title: Underwriting Counsel
Job Responsibilities:
- Review and evaluate title searches and insurance risk factors, and communicate underwriting requirements to counsel for buyers, sellers, and lenders on real estate transactions.
- Evaluate risk and exposures to determine the acceptability of business.
- Determine premiums, terms, and conditions based on established rules, rates, and guidelines.
- Analyze data such as financial conditions of the organization, participation percentage, type of industry, characteristics of employee groups, or past claim experience.
- Perform a range of assignments and potentially lead projects within their discipline.
- Apply working knowledge of business and best practices through understanding of key business drivers and how their area integrates within the organization.
- Work within broad guidelines and policies to accomplish objectives and goals.
- Solve moderately complex to complex problems and analyze possible solutions using technical experience, judgment, and precedents.
- Explain complex and/or sensitive information in a straightforward manner.
- Act as a resource for colleagues and provide guidance to less experienced team members.
- Function as an individual contributor with limited oversight.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by management.
Education:
- Juris Doctor (JD), currently licensed to practice in a state.
Experience:
- Typically requires 2-4 years of related work experience.
Salary Information:
The base salary range provided is consistent with similar roles at the company. The base salary range is not an absolute, but a guide, and actual offers will be based on the individual candidate’s knowledge, skills, education, experience, location, market conditions, and other compensation components. Depending upon all of the preceding considerations, the base salary may be lower or higher than the stated range.
