Job Title: Kinship Care / Family Law Attorney (Statewide)

Job Responsibilities:
The Kinship Care Project under the organization provides crucial representation to relative caregivers in various legal matters such as custody, guardianship, adoption, and benefits. The responsibilities of the Kinship Care / Family Law Attorney include:

- Providing counsel and advice to family violence survivors through the Family Law Hotline on a comprehensive range of family law legal options, including divorce, custody, visitation, child support, paternity-defense, legitimation, name changes, protective orders, as well as financial benefits, housing, and educational legal assistance.
- Offering civil legal representation to survivors of family violence, handling cases that may be in state, federal, and administrative forums as determined by the supervisor or the Managing Attorney.
- Referring clients for immigration assistance, including T-Visas, U-Visas, and VAWA applications to partners or immigration resources/partners.
- Directing clients to other holistic services available, such as safety planning, shelter, law enforcement assistance, victim assistance, counseling, benefits, and other community services to aid in safety and economic security.
- Maintaining records and data on the organization’s case management system for research, development, and project activity reporting purposes.
- Assisting in recruiting and supporting pro bono attorneys, in collaboration with the pro bono unit, to help survivors with their legal needs.
- Facilitating presentations to bar associations, attorneys, and community partners to promote the development and participation in holistic civil legal services for survivors.
- Attending statewide and national meetings and conferences as budgetary and grant requirements allow.
- Supporting the application of technology to the delivery of legal services and participating in discussions and policy recommendations on using technology to develop and expand access to civil legal services for survivors.
- Providing multicultural outreach to survivors about the legal services available to them throughout the state.
- Offering grant support regarding the organization’s family law grants, including administrative assistance, drafting, monitoring and managing budgets, grant reporting, and providing supervisory support to grant attorneys and staff as needed by the project manager.

Education and Experience Information:
Candidates must be graduates of an accredited law school and current members of the Georgia Bar. They should have experience working with individuals with low incomes and a commitment to social justice. Additional requirements include:

- Willingness and ability to work as part of a team in a professional and collaborative manner.
- Computer literacy, including familiarity with email, Excel, Word, SharePoint, LegalServer, and other computer programs.
- Reliable transportation and a valid Georgia driver's license, as travel is part of the position.
- Ability to speak Spanish is highly valued.
- Demonstrated interest or experience working with low-income clients on poverty law issues and commitment to social justice.
- Ability to work with diverse populations, backgrounds, and perspectives.
- Excellent oral advocacy, research, and writing skills.
- Attention to detail and self-motivation.
- Ability to be creative and a team player.
- Membership in the Georgia Bar.

Salary Information:
The salary for the Kinship Care / Family Law Attorney position starts at $65,000 and may vary depending on experience. The organization provides generous fringe benefits, including:
