Job Responsibilities:
- Assist higher-ranking attorneys in preparing court cases and advisory opinions.
- Litigate routine cases in trial, appellate courts, and before administrative tribunals under supervision.
- Draft pleadings, interview witnesses, and write legal memoranda and briefs for complex cases.
- Enter claims for collecting monies due to the state.
- Assist in preparing proposed legislation and draft tentative rules and regulations.
- Review rules, regulations, and bulletins for conformity to the law.
- Investigate reports of violations of statutes and administrative rules.
- Prepare advisory opinions for review by higher-ranking attorneys.
- Prepare or review legal documents such as contracts, licenses, deeds, and abstracts.
- Conduct legal research applicable to assigned activities.
- Conduct hearings, render decisions, and issue subpoenas.
- Administer oaths, hear testimony, and consider evidence.
- Examine witnesses, maintain order, and rule on motions and objections.
- Prepare and issue decisions and orders based on gathered evidence and research.
- Conduct pre-trial conferences to resolve preliminary issues.
- Determine jurisdictional or procedural issues and decide on appropriate actions.
- Compile and maintain records of adjudications, ensuring accurate documentation.
- Continuously study current statutes, regulations, and case law related to assigned hearings.

Education and Experience Information:
- Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice law.

Salary Information:
- $4, - $8, Monthly

Additional Information:
- This position is part of the Office of Unemployment Insurance Administration, within the Appeals Tribunal.
- It can be filled as a Probational or Job Appointment, Promotion, or Detail to Special Duty.
- No Civil Service test score or assessment is required for consideration.
