A law firm based in Richmond, VA, is seeking a motivated Litigation Associate with 1-5 years of experience to join its civil litigation team. Duties:

  • Evaluate incoming litigation matters to formulate strategic plans, budget estimates, and procedural guidance

  • Determine necessary pleadings and collaborate with support staff on drafting responsibilities

  • Oversee discovery processes, including document production and drafting of discovery responses

  • Represent clients in depositions, hearings, and other procedural activities, followed by concise case reporting

  • Engage in settlement discussions and negotiations while obtaining authorization from appropriate stakeholders

  • Provide trial preparation support and courtroom advocacy when required

  • Coordinate closely with paralegals and legal administrative staff to ensure efficient case management

Requirements:

  • 1-5 years of post-law school legal experience, preferably within insurance defense or general civil litigation

  • Active law license in good standing with the Virginia State Bar

  • Demonstrated ability to manage caseloads autonomously

  • Adept at prioritizing and multitasking within a deadline-driven environment

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Admission to practice law in the Commonwealth of Virginia (Bar license required)

Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools and open to learning litigation-specific software platforms

  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
