Job Title: Sexual Assault Prosecutor
Job Responsibilities:
As a Sexual Assault Prosecutor at the organization, you will be responsible for handling a specialized caseload that includes sexual assault and sexual abuse of minor cases. You will serve as a regional expert on these topics, prosecuting the most serious and high-profile cases. Your responsibilities include providing advice and assistance to law enforcement agencies and mentoring other prosecutors. Key areas of expertise you will share are:
- A victim-centered approach
- Obtaining search warrants
- Effective seizure of evidence
- Presenting scientific evidence at trial
Additionally, you may participate in multidisciplinary teams to develop guidelines and suggestions aimed at increasing the success of investigations and prosecutions while minimizing trauma to victims.
Education and Experience Information:
Candidates for this position must be familiar with Alaska’s criminal justice system and laws, possess extensive trial experience, and have a history of handling complex criminal prosecutions. A demonstrated commitment to working with victims of sexual assault and sexual abuse is also required. Some travel within the region is necessary, particularly for trials that may last several weeks.
Salary Information:
The compensation for this position is based on a combination of judicial clerking and licensed legal experience. The base pay varies depending on the level of experience and geographical location. Attorneys are eligible to be promoted from Attorney 1 through Attorney 4 with service and acceptable job performance. The estimated base pay is as follows:
- Attorney 1 (Unlicensed attorney): $87,282-$90,012
- Attorney 2 (Less than two years of licensed experience): $96,,840
- Attorney 3 (More than 2 but less than 4 years of licensed experience): $106,,
- Attorney 4 (More than 4 years): $121,836-$139,542
Geographical pay rate differences are also applicable, with base pay adjustments ranging from no difference in Anchorage, Kenai, Palmer, and Ketchikan, to a 60% increase in Kotzebue.
