Job Title: Spring Volunteer Law Student
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide direct support to the organization's staff and clients by volunteering time and talents.
- Assist in both legal and non-legal capacities to enable organization attorneys to represent individuals who might otherwise be turned away due to lack of resources.
- Work within the Attorney for the Child Unit, which provides representation to children from birth through age 21 in Family Court proceedings. These proceedings include custody, child abuse and neglect, juvenile delinquency, and PINS (Persons In Need of Supervision) cases.
- Appear in court under a practice order and supervision of staff attorneys.
- Provide legal representation and counseling to qualified applicants.
- Engage in activities that help develop skills in research, document production, interviewing, and court representation.
Education and Experience Information:
