Job Overview:
A highly respected law firm is seeking a seasoned Commercial Real Estate Attorney with experience in community associations to join its Business Group. This role will support the firm's expanding Community Associations Practice Team, advising a broad range of clients including developers, lenders, landlords, and condominium/homeowners associations. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in real estate transactions and community association law, along with the ability to lead and manage closings and compliance processes effectively.

Location:

  • Virginia Beach, Virginia

Duties:

  • Represent developers, landlords, lenders, and community associations in a variety of real estate and governance matters

  • Handle commercial real estate transactions including acquisitions, purchases, financings, and leasing

  • Assist in the formation, governance, and compliance of community associations (residential, commercial, and mixed-use)

  • Draft, review, analyze, and negotiate legal documents including:

    • Agreements

    • Deeds

    • Loan documents

    • Leases

    • Declarations and covenants

  • Manage legal workflows and oversee support staff to ensure timely closings and client milestones are achieved

  • Provide legal counsel on regulatory and operational compliance related to community association management

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant legal experience in commercial real estate and community associations

  • Proven ability to manage transactions and provide practical legal guidance

  • Demonstrated experience advising clients on community association governance and operations

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize and manage deadlines

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active member in good standing with the Virginia State Bar

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of real estate law, community associations, and related regulatory frameworks

  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, and analytical abilities

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for client and team collaboration

  • Ability to manage and lead transactions independently

  • Highly organized and solution-oriented mindset
