Job Title:
Applied Researcher II

Job Responsibilities:
- Partner with a cross-functional team of data scientists, software engineers, machine learning engineers, and product managers to deliver AI-powered products that change how customers interact with their money.
- Leverage a broad stack of technologies such as Pytorch, AWS Ultraclusters, Huggingface, Lightning, and VectorDBs to uncover insights within large volumes of numeric and textual data.
- Build AI foundation models through all phases of development, from design through training, evaluation, validation, and implementation.
- Engage in high-impact applied research to advance the latest AI developments and push them into the next generation of customer experiences.
- Translate complex work into tangible business goals using interpersonal skills.

Education and Experience Information:
Basic Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing or having obtained a PhD, with an expectation that the required degree will be obtained before the scheduled start date, with at least 2 years of experience in Applied Research, or an . with at least 4 years of experience in Applied Research.

Preferred Qualifications:
- PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Computer Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, or related fields.
- Experience and publications focusing on NLP, optimization of large language model training, deep learning theory, and finetuning techniques.
- Demonstrated experience in developing large deep learning models and optimizing training for 10B+ parameter models.
- Proven track record of delivering models at scale and contributing to libraries, platform-level code, or solution-level code to existing products.
- Ability to own and pursue a research agenda autonomously, including choosing impactful research problems and conducting long-running projects.

- Cambridge, MA: $257,300 - $293,700
- McLean, VA: $257,300 - $293,700
- New York, NY: $280,700 - $320,400
- San Francisco, CA: $280,700 - $320,400
- San Jose, CA: $280,700 - $320,400

This role is also eligible for performance-based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonuses and/or long-term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non-discretionary, depending on the plan.
