Job Responsibilities:
- Research and analyze complex legal issues raised in civil term motions.
- Prepare memorandums and draft orders and opinions.
- Verify legal citations to ensure accuracy in documentation.
- Draft correspondence related to legal proceedings.
- Proofread opinions for accuracy and coherence.
- Schedule and conduct discovery, status, and settlement conferences.
- Prepare jury charges and jury verdict forms.

Education and Experience Information:
- Candidates must have graduated from an accredited law school no more than three years prior to appointment.
- Admission to the New York State Bar is required within eighteen months of appointment.
- Alternatively, candidates can be appointed within three years of their first admission to any bar in the United States.

Salary Information:
- Base salary for the position is $84,659, with an additional $4,920 location pay.

Additional Information:
- The position is classified as exempt/confidential.
- Assistant Law Clerks are appointed to a one-year clerkship, which is renewable up to four times.
- This position is personally appointed by the Justice for whom the Clerk works and serves at the Justice's pleasure.
- The position is assigned to Hon. Mary Lynn Nicolas-Brewster, Supreme Court Justice in Bronx County Supreme Court – Civil Term.
- Judges appointing an Assistant Law Clerk agree to forego the appointment of a Secretary, waiving the right to such an appointment under section 36 of the Judiciary Law for the duration of the Clerk's service.
- The appointee may be subject to reassignment to any position in the same title within the promotion unit, depending on the needs of the Unified Court System.
