Job Responsibilities:
Interns in the district office will gain firsthand knowledge about how a Congressional office provides constituent services and interacts with the community. Responsibilities may include assisting with constituent services and participating in community interactions. Interns in Washington, ., will work closely with legislative, communications, and constituent services staff to learn about the legislative process and the federal government. Responsibilities may include assisting with legislative research, preparing communications materials, and supporting constituent services activities.
Education and Experience Information:
Internships are open to any interested students, regardless of major. Candidates should be current college students or recent graduates. The internship is designed to be an educational experience, providing insight into the workings of a Congressional office.
Salary Information:
Internships are unpaid, and candidates selected for the Washington, ., office are responsible for their own travel and living expenses. However, college credit is available, and candidates should contact the Washington, ., office for more information regarding academic credit.
Additional Information:
Internships are available for different sessions throughout the year: Summer Internship from the end of May until the beginning of August, Fall Internship from the beginning of September through the end of November, and Spring Internship from January until the middle of May. Applicants must indicate their preferred session and availability, whether full-time or part-time. Applicants interested in academic credit must provide their institution's requirements.
