Job Title: Tax Managing Director, Alternative Investments

Job Responsibilities:

The Tax Managing Director in the Alternative Investments practice is responsible for providing comprehensive tax compliance and consulting services to clients in the Venture Capital, Private Equity, Hedge Fund, and Real Estate sectors. Key responsibilities include:

- Ensuring clients comply with all applicable tax authorities while minimizing their tax and reporting burdens.
- Ensuring compliance with company policies, standards, and the BDO Tax Quality Manual.
- Preparing required tax filings by understanding clients' unique circumstances and documentation.
- Collecting all necessary data for filing requirements and communicating any missing information.
- Utilizing company compliance software to enhance efficiency in the tax preparation process.
- Collaborating effectively with Principals, Senior Managers, Managers, Tax Seniors, and Associates to complete projects.
- Delivering high-quality federal, state, and international tax compliance services.
- Leading complex engagements with a team of tax professionals.
- Managing engagements, including billing, collections, and project budgets.
- Building and managing client relationships and assisting in developing new clients and opportunities.
- Documenting client work and conclusions in the client tax file.
- Identifying, developing, recommending, and implementing efficient and effective tax strategies.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

- Managing teams of Senior Managers, Managers, Tax Seniors, and Associates.

Education and Experience Information:

Education:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics is required.
- Master’s Degree in Accounting or Taxation is preferred.

Experience:

- A minimum of ten years of relevant tax experience and/or public accounting, private industry accounting, or consulting/professional services experience is required.
- Experience in the Financial Services industry supporting Alternative Investment funds, including Venture Capital, Private Equity, Real Estate, and Hedge Funds, is preferred.
- Proficiency in the taxation of partnerships is preferred.

License/Certifications:

- CPA or Licensed Attorney, or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent is required.
- CFP or Masters in Tax is preferred.

Software:

- Experience with Microsoft Office Tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook), and Adobe Acrobat is preferred.
- Experience with tax research databases is preferred.
- Proficiency in tax compliance process software is preferred.
