Job Title: Director - Strategic Financing Services - Applications and Strategic Planning
Job Responsibilities:
The Director for Strategic Financing Services will play a pivotal role in overseeing application and strategic planning activities for Community Development Entities (CDEs), Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs), Community Lenders, and Nonprofits. This role involves working with these organizations to enhance their internal and external capacities, align their missions, visions, and values, and formalize their strategic plans to support their growth and service expansion. The Director will lead a team of application writers and community development specialists, manage the writing of New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) applications, and oversee grant writing and application processes for clients seeking other funding programs. Additionally, the Director will be responsible for expanding the client portfolio and collaborating both internally and externally to achieve measurable outcomes for the team, clients, and the communities they serve.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing the application and grant writing team, fostering a healthy team culture, and optimizing the NMTC allocation application process.
- Drafting and reviewing NMTC allocation applications and supporting documents, writing compelling business strategies and community outcomes, and collaborating with clients to identify NMTC pipeline opportunities.
- Identifying and managing other grant and application writing opportunities, collaborating with deal team participants, and designing project proposals for investment opportunities.
- Establishing relationships with CDFIs, CDEs, and community development stakeholders, assisting clients in formalizing their organizational frameworks, and supporting the underwriting and structuring of NMTC transactions.
- Preparing relevant certifications, managing a pipeline of community development finance initiatives, and collaborating with various teams to enhance grant writing opportunities and cross-industry initiatives.
Education and Experience Information:
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. A CPA license, MBA, JD, LLM, or a Master’s Degree in a related field is preferred. A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in community development finance, tax credit finance, CDE/CDFI lending, structured finance, or a related field is required. The candidate should have knowledge and experience with tax credit financing, specifically NMTC, and experience working with borrowers, lenders, investors, and community development organizations. Strong research, analytical, leadership, and communication skills are essential, as well as proficiency in Excel.
Salary Information:
The salary range for this position is $146,395 to $328,800. Individual salaries within this range are determined by various factors including the role, function, associated responsibilities, candidate's work experience, education, knowledge, skills, and geographic location.
