- California: $146,000 - $200,000
- Colorado: $120,000 - $185,000
- Illinois: $140,000 - $190,000
- Maryland: $152,000 - $188,000

- NYC/Long Island/Westchester: $175,000 - $205,000
- Washington: $150,000 - $200,000
- Washington DC: $156,000 - $200,000
Job Description:
- As a Tax Senior Manager in the Alternative Investments practice at BDO, you will be responsible for providing tax compliance and consulting services to clients in the Venture Capital, Private Equity, Hedge Fund, and Real Estate industries.
- Your role will involve ensuring that clients comply with all applicable tax laws and minimizing their tax and reporting burdens, while also ensuring that the firm and client service teams comply with all policies and standards.
- You will utilize your understanding of each client's unique circumstances to prepare required tax filings and ensure full compliance, while keeping their tax and reporting burdens as low as possible.
- In addition, you will work closely with Partners, Managers, Tax Seniors, and Associates to complete projects and deliver high-quality federal, state, and international tax compliance services.
- As a leader in the Alternative Investments practice, you will manage complex engagements and supervise teams of Managers, Tax Seniors, and Associates.
- You will also have the opportunity to identify, develop, recommend, and implement efficient and effective tax strategies for clients.
- Other duties may be assigned as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics is required; a Master's in Accountancy or Taxation is preferred.
- You must have at least 8 years of relevant tax experience and/or public accounting, private industry accounting, or consulting/professional services experience.
- Prior supervisory experience is required.
- Experience in the Financial Services industry, specifically supporting Alternative Investment funds, is preferred.
- Proficiency in the taxation of partnerships is also preferred.
Licenses/Certifications:
- You must hold a CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a . jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (EA) (or the equivalent of one of these designations).
- Possession of other professional degrees or certifications applicable to the role is preferred, such as CFP or Masters in Tax.
Software:
- Experience with Microsoft Office Tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat is preferred.
- Familiarity with tax research databases and tax compliance process software is also preferred.
Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
- You must be able to delegate work effectively as needed.
- Excellent analytical, research, and critical thinking skills, as well as decision-making abilities, are necessary for this role.
- You should also be able to work well in a team environment and have the capacity to develop and manage a team of tax professionals.
- The ability to compose written tax advice and maintain client relationships is important.
- You must also have executive presence and be able to act as the primary client contact for presenting issues and resolutions.
