Job Responsibilities:
The role of Tax Senior Manager - Private Companies involves working within the department to assist private companies with various business advisory needs. These encompass audit, tax compliance, and planning to enhance operational efficiency and allow companies to focus on their business strategies. The position provides the opportunity to engage with the entire business lifecycle of a private company, from inception through growth, maturity, and transition.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and implementing personalized service plans tailored to privately owned entities, entrepreneurs, and high-net-worth individuals.
- Addressing key issues such as wealth management, compliance, cash flow management, equity expansion, divestiture, and exit strategies.
- Encouraging team members to voice opinions and facilitating open discussions.
- Handling ambiguous and unstructured problems effectively.
- Initiating coaching conversations at various levels.
- Balancing between big-picture thinking and managing detailed aspects.
- Anticipating stakeholder needs and developing solutions proactively.
- Contributing technical knowledge in areas of specialization.
- Fostering an environment where people and technology work together effectively.
- Navigating complexities of cross-border and diverse team engagements.
- Leading open conversations with teams, clients, and stakeholders to build trust.
- Upholding the company's code of ethics and business conduct.
The role also involves being a tax advisor who is dedicated to innovation, providing clients with the necessary skills and technology to solve problems and deliver sustained outcomes. The position requires adopting a practical and holistic approach to meet the unique needs of private companies and their owners, thriving in complex transaction environments, and leveraging technical knowledge, specialization, and industry insights to address client needs.
Education and Experience Information:
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum Degree Required: Bachelor Degree
- Required Fields of Study: Accounting
- Minimum Years of Experience: 6 years
Certification(s) Required:
- CPA, Member of the Bar, or other tax, technology, or finance-specific credentials may qualify for this opportunity.
Preferred Knowledge/Skills:
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in complex tax issues faced by non-publicly traded companies.
- Experience in day-to-day compliance and consulting for various entities.
- Proven ability to identify and address client needs.
- Experience in building, maintaining, and leveraging networks of client relationships and community involvement.
- Strong communication skills to articulate value propositions.
- Proficiency in managing resource requirements, project workflow, budgets, billing, and collections.
- Experience in supervising teams to foster trust, promote diverse views, and encourage improvement and innovation.
- Proven ability to provide timely, meaningful feedback to staff.
- Demonstrated leadership as a business advisor, including developing new relationships and selling new services with a "One Firm" service mindset.
- Experience in innovating with new and existing technologies and experimenting with digitization solutions.
- Proficiency in using digitization tools to reduce hours and optimize engagements.
Salary Information:
The salary range for this position is $119,300 - $328,000. Individuals may also be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. The listed salary range applies to roles based in Maryland, and actual compensation within the range will depend on the individual's skills, experience, qualifications, location, and applicable employment laws.
