Armstrong Teasdale, a leading law firm, is seeking an experienced IP Associate with software, computer science, electrical or mechanical expertise to join their Intellectual Property Group. This is an exciting opportunity for an attorney with 2+ years of experience to work in a dynamic and supportive environment, while handling a diverse range of patent prosecution matters for clients in various industries. The firm has multiple offices across the country, including Chicago, Denver, New York, Philadelphia, Kansas City, and St. Louis.
Role Overview:
The IP Associate will play a key role in the preparation and prosecution of patent applications, providing patentability and clearance opinions, managing patent estates, and handling licensing and enforcement matters for a diverse clientele. The ideal candidate should have experience in software, computer science, electrical, or mechanical patent preparation and prosecution. They should also possess strong attention to detail, good communication skills, and a desire to advance their career in Intellectual Property law.
Responsibilities:
- Independently handle high-level and strategic aspects of multiple legal matters, from inception to conclusion
- Communicate effectively with attorneys and clients
- Work independently and productively, while also showing a strong interest in professional development
- Produce quality legal work and meet billing requirements to ensure excellent client service
- Manage and generate business through individual and group efforts
- Comply with the highest ethical standards of the legal profession

Requirements:
- Juris Doctor degree
- Preferred education in Electrical, Computer, or Mechanical Engineering, or Computer Science
- Licensed to practice law in one or more jurisdictions where the firm conducts business
- Registered to practice before the USPTO
- 2+ years of experience at a law firm
- Ability to manage and delegate work to support staff and junior associates
- Comfortable sitting for prolonged periods and working on a computer
- Minimal travel required (less than 10%)

Salary Information:
Salary ranges may vary depending on experience, areas of expertise, and licenses. The following ranges are provided for reference:
- Chicago: $190,000-$250,000
- New York: $190,000-$250,000
- Denver: $180,000-$250,000
- Philadelphia: $180,000-$250,000
- Kansas City: $170,000-$240,000
- St. Louis: $170,000-$240,000
