Job Title: Tax Experienced Senior, Core Tax Services
Job Responsibilities:
1. **Tax Compliance**:
- Ensure clients comply with all applicable authorities while minimizing tax and reporting burdens.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies, standards, and the Tax Quality Manual (TQM).
- Manage projects by planning the tax process and procedures with quality.
- Answer preparer questions and coordinate engagement from the onset by communicating expectations and procedures.
- Conduct detailed reviews on all returns and appropriate review notes for preparers; raise potential tax issues.
- Meet internal deadlines to match client expectations for timely delivery of service.
- Identify book-to-tax differences.
- Manage projects by developing a budget, monitoring budget vs. actual, scheduling resources, and identifying out-of-scope activity.
2. **Research**:
- Identify when research is needed, clearly frame issues to be researched, and report the analysis concisely.
- Apply most company and professional standards for preparation of WTA and tax returns.
3. **ASC 740-10 (FAS 109 and FIN 48) Tax Accruals**:
- Apply company policies, standards, and TQM regarding FAS 109 and FIN 48.
- Prepare provision workpapers and discuss with appropriate team members.
- Identify and discuss uncertain positions with team members.
- Review and prepare footnote disclosures in compliance with 740-10-55.
- Utilize and manage STS.
- Draft tax provision memorandums.
- Communicate with Assurance counterparts to timely plan tax accrual reviews.
4. **Tax Consulting**:
- Assist with developing, recommending, and implementing efficient methods to maximize client benefits, especially by decreasing current and future taxes.
- Identify consulting opportunities to reduce client’s tax liability.
- Provide efficient support for client consulting projects.
- Gather relevant information for controversy work efficiently.
- Document all significant tax positions in accordance with company and office policies.
5. **Strategy Development**:
- Introduce and develop new or improved ideas to improve the position of clients, the company, or personnel.
- May be required to prepare studies of tax implications and offer clients alternative courses of action.
6. **Supervisory Responsibilities**:
- May supervise and manage the day-to-day work assignments of Core Tax Services Associates.
- Provide verbal and written performance feedback to Core Tax Associates as necessary.
- Act as a mentor to Core Tax Services Associates.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics required, OR Bachelor's degree in another focus area with CPA certification required.
- Master's in Accountancy or Taxation preferred.
- Three or more years of prior relevant tax experience and/or public accounting, private industry accounting, or consulting/professional services experience preferred.
- Industry expertise in one or more tax specialties preferred.
- Prior basic supervisory experience preferred.
License/Certifications:
- CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a . jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (EA) preferred.
- Possession of other professional degrees or certifications applicable to the role preferred.
Software:
- Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite preferred.
- Experience with tax research databases and tax compliance process software preferred.
Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Solid verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to follow instructions as directed by members of the Tax Team.
- Ability to prepare simple tax returns.
- Takes appropriate actions without being asked.
- Seeks advice from appropriate superiors regarding compliance issues.

- Ability to train other team members.

- Ability to work well in a team environment.
Salary Information:
Individual salaries offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.
- California Range: $96,000 - $125,000
- Colorado Range: $85,500 - $104,500
- Illinois Range: $90,000 - $108,000
- Maryland Range: $95,000 - $110,000
- Minnesota Range: $80,000 - $95,000
- NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $100,000 - $120,000
- Washington Range: $87,400 - $120,000
- Washington DC Range: $100,000 - $115,000
