Job Title: Undergraduate and Graduate Internship with the **Members Only**
Job Responsibilities:
Interns with the **Members Only** will be involved in a variety of tasks that provide a deeper understanding of public service, community concerns, and the legislative process. Responsibilities include:
- Conducting research and writing memos for legislative purposes.
- Attending hearings or briefings to gain insights into legislative operations.
- Processing constituent mail and responding to community concerns.
- Staffing the front desk and handling administrative tasks.
- Conducting tours of the . Capitol for visitors.
- Drafting messages and supporting outreach activities in the Honolulu office.
- Performing other tasks as assigned to support the office's functions.
Education and Experience Information:
- Undergraduate internships are available in both the Washington, . and Honolulu, Hawai‘i offices year-round.
- Applicants must have completed at least one year of college at the time of their internship application.
- Preference is given to students toward the end of their educational programs.
- Graduate student internships are exclusively available in the Washington, . office.
- Strong writing, communication skills, and a positive attitude are essential.
- Preference is given to applicants with strong Hawai‘i ties.
Salary Information:
- Internships with Senator Schatz’s office are paid unless they conflict with degree requirements, outside stipends, . Senate employment criteria, or other unique circumstances.
- The office is willing to work with selected interns to fulfill the requirements of most outside educational programs.
Additional Information:
- All internships are in-person, and full-time availability is preferred, especially during the summer.
- Internships are competitive, and applications are reviewed on a rolling basis until positions are filled.
- Priority application deadlines are set for each internship period: November 25 for Spring, March 15 for Summer, and June 30 for Fall.
