Job Overview:
A prominent law firm based in Beverly Hills, CA, is seeking a passionate and driven attorney to join its tenant advocacy practice. This role focuses on representing individuals facing unsafe and unlivable housing conditions, with the goal of securing justice and improving living standards. The position offers a unique opportunity to work on impactful litigation in a hybrid setting, combining remote flexibility with meaningful in-person courtroom representation.

Duties:

  • Advocate on behalf of residential tenants in cases involving substandard housing conditions such as mold, vermin infestations, and lack of utilities or basic services

  • Handle all phases of litigation, including discovery, depositions, motion practice, and trial representation

  • Draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and settlement agreements

  • Advise clients on legal strategies and tenant rights under California and federal laws

  • Collaborate with experts, field investigators, and litigation support staff

  • Participate in negotiations and mediation sessions to resolve disputes with landlords or property managers

  • Maintain awareness of evolving legislation and policy developments affecting tenant protections

Requirements:

  • Active license to practice law in California

  • Minimum of 2 years of litigation experience, preferably in tenant law, civil rights, or public interest litigation

  • Proven ability to manage a case docket from intake through resolution

  • Strong legal writing and persuasive communication skills

  • Commitment to housing justice and advocacy for marginalized communities

  • Availability to attend hearings and trials in the Los Angeles area when required

  • Multilingual proficiency (Spanish or other community languages) is highly valued

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (.) from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications:

  • California State Bar membership in good standing

Skills:

  • Strategic litigation and negotiation expertise

  • Legal research and analytical reasoning

  • Oral and written advocacy in legal proceedings

  • Case and deadline management under limited supervision

  • Client counseling and community engagement

  • Cross-functional collaboration with experts and support staff

  • Familiarity with housing and tenant protection statutes
