Overview:
The **Members Only** (DPD) is seeking dedicated Public Defense Attorneys to join our team. As a Public Defense Attorney, you will provide exceptional, client-centered representation while working alongside skilled investigators, mitigation specialists, paralegals, and other support staff.

Job Responsibilities:
- Provide competent legal representation and advocacy for indigent clients, including those with limited English proficiency
- Oversee all aspects of legal representation from arraignment through trial and, if necessary, sentencing and post-trial processes
- Engage in motions practice, including researching, writing, and arguing pretrial motions
- Serve a diverse client base, including individuals facing mental health challenges, substance use disorders, and other systemic issues
- Develop and implement effective legal strategies in collaboration with investigators, mitigation specialists, and paralegals
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited law school or a combination of experience, education, and training
- Admission to the Washington State Bar Association or licensure in another state that qualifies for a license under Admission and Practice Rule (APR) 8(f) House Counsel
- Minimum age of 21
- Valid Washington State driver's license or ability to travel throughout King County
Desired Qualifications:
- At least two years of criminal or civil practice, including motion and trial practice
- Proficiency in languages other than English, particularly Spanish
- Clinical training in public defense
- Lived experience related to the criminal legal system
Work Schedule and Location:
- Flexible, hybrid workplace with in-office and telecommuting options available
- Onsite reporting requirements based on operational needs
- Rotations of work location and practice area may occur based on business need
- Physical offices located in Seattle and Kent
