Job Title: Tax Senior Manager, Core Tax Services

Job Responsibilities:

The Tax Senior Manager is tasked with delivering tax and consulting services to business clients with pass-through entities, as well as to their business owners. This role involves:

- Performing tax planning, preparation, and research for pass-through entities such as S-corporations, LLCs, and partnerships, along with the individual returns of business owners, which may include estates, trusts, and charitable entities.
- Managing client engagements, supervising and reviewing the work of team staff members, and collaborating closely with both clients and internal managers and partners.
- Ensuring client satisfaction by providing timely services and work products.
- Demonstrating an understanding of tax concepts and actively pursuing increased tax knowledge through client assignments and current tax developments.

Tax Compliance:

- Ensuring clients comply with all applicable authorities while minimizing their tax and reporting burdens. Ensuring that self and client service teams comply with all company policies, standards, and the BDO Tax Quality Manual (TQM).
- Possessing significant knowledge of taxation related to personal income, estate, and gift tax, as well as wealth retention strategies and the taxation of entities owned by business owners (partnership and corporate taxation).
- Conducting top-level reviews of tax returns and resolving all tax issues with clients, involving specialists where appropriate.
- Planning and reviewing the tax process and procedures to be performed, including budgeting, staffing, monitoring engagement processes, and timely billing and collection of accounts receivable.
- Managing client relationships and expectations in accordance with the project and providing advice to clients in a timely manner.

Research:

- Identifying when research is needed and performing such research; clearly and concisely framing issues to be researched and reporting the analysis.
- Applying most firm and professional standards for the preparation of work-to-date analysis and tax returns, involving firm specialists where appropriate.

Strategy Development:

- Introducing and developing new or improved ideas to enhance the position of clients, the company, or company personnel, such as reducing taxes or expenses or providing non-tax benefits.
- Reviewing studies of tax implications and offering clients alternative courses of action.
- Identifying and leveraging lessons learned from prior projects and offering input on how to improve processes and methods.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

- Building a team of professionals by training and working together to serve high-net-worth clients with timely responses to their needs.
- Supervising associates and senior associates on all projects.
- Reviewing work prepared by associates and senior associates and providing review comments.
- Training associates and seniors on the use of all current software tools.
- Acting as a Career Advisor to associates and senior associates.
- Scheduling and managing the workload of associates and senior associates.
- Providing verbal and written performance feedback to associates and senior associates.

Education and Experience Information:

Education:

- Bachelor’s degree required, with a major in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics preferred.
- Master’s degree in Accounting or Taxation preferred.

Experience:

- Eight or more years of prior relevant tax experience and/or public accounting, private industry accounting, or consulting/professional services experience required. Specifically, experience working on individual, estate, trust, partnership, S-corporation, and private foundation tax/consulting clients.
- Prior supervisory experience required.

License/Certifications:

- CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a . jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (EA) or the equivalent of one of these designations required.
- Possession of other professional degrees or certifications applicable to role preferred.

Software:

- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite preferred.
