Job Title: Law Clerk
Job Summary:
Law firm is seeking a second-year or above law student to assist attorneys in general litigation and administrative proceedings. The law firm specializes in the manufactured home industry, real and personal property law, and administrative law. The firm handles cases involving constitutional challenges, code violations, zoning, breach of contract, licensure defense, regulatory compliance, and evictions (FEDs). Clients include individuals, corporations, contractors, investment groups, and small business entities. The firm has a history of working with law externship students from CU and DU.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Draft pleadings such as Complaints, Answers, Motions to Dismiss, Motion to Quash, Motion to Continue, etc., for County Court and District Court.
- Draft motions related to Titles.
- Brief proposed Bills related to rental housing, specifically Manufactured Home Communities (MHCs), before they are sent to the legislature.
- Engage in administrative law tasks, which may include research and comments on proposed rulemaking and memos on compliance.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Must be a second-year law student or above.
- Demonstrated excellence in legal research and writing.
- Interest in community issues, attainable housing, and the legislative process, as well as representing large investment groups.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and hands-on environment.
- Opportunity to attend court and/or represented properties.
Education and Experience Information:
- Must be enrolled in an accredited law school and have completed at least 2 years of legal studies.
- Must have their law school dean's certification for moral character and good standing, which may be withdrawn at any time.
- Must be introduced to the court or administrative tribunal by a licensed attorney authorized to practice in Colorado.
- Must affirm that they have read, are familiar with, and will adhere to the code of professional responsibility.
Salary Information:
- Hourly pay: $21
- Hybrid remote schedule available
- Working hours: 9 am to 2 pm, Monday through Friday
