Job Title: Seized Property Specialist

**Job Responsibilities:**

As a Seized Property Specialist at the Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Homeland Security Investigations, your primary responsibilities include:

- Providing custody, management, and disposition of seized or forfeited property.
- Overseeing the receipt, security, and transportation of all types of seized or forfeited property, including controlled substances, currency, and firearms.
- Witnessing or supervising the destruction of seized or forfeited property, such as narcotics.
- Arranging for the transfer or temporary safekeeping of seized or forfeited property prior to its release for storage and disposition to a contractor.

**Education and Experience Information:**

**Qualifications for GS-09 Level:**

- **Experience:** One year of specialized experience at the GS-07 grade level or equivalent, which includes:
- Providing support to a seized property management function by locating physical storage facilities.
- Accounting for seized property through an automated system.
- Preparing reports for management or court cases.

- **Education:** A master's degree (or equivalent graduate degree such as a .) or two academic years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree.

- **Combination of Education and Experience:** A combination of successfully completed education and experience. This will be calculated using your resume and unofficial transcripts or a list of courses/course hours submitted with your application.

**Qualifications for GS-11 Level:**

- **Experience:** One year of specialized experience at the GS-09 grade level or equivalent, which includes:
- Assisting with providing custody, management, and disposition of seized and forfeited property by overseeing their receipt, security, transportation, and review of appraised value.
- Assisting with determining liens, quick-sale, storage, inventory, maintenance, modification, refurbishment, upgrade, and final disposition of seized and forfeited property.

- **Education:** A . or equivalent doctoral degree or three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree.

- **Combination of Education and Experience:** A combination of successfully completed education and experience. This will be calculated using your resume and unofficial transcripts or a list of courses/course hours submitted with your application.

**Additional Qualification Information:**

- Qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
- National Service Experience, including volunteer work done through programs like Peace Corps and AmeriCorps, is recognized and can be valuable for qualification.
- Current or former political appointees must disclose their status to the Human Resources Office.

**Salary Information:**

- The salary for this position ranges from $61,111 to $120,157 per year, based on the applicable locality pay for the selected duty location.
- The position has promotion potential up to the GS-11 level, but future promotions are contingent on performance, the agency’s needs, and administrative approval.

**Conditions of Employment:**

- Must be a . citizen.
- Must pass a background investigation and a drug screen.
- Males born after 12/31/59 must certify registration with Selective Service.
- A valid driver's license is required prior to a final job offer.
- This position requires carrying a firearm. Individuals convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence are not eligible to possess firearms or ammunition.
- A probationary period of one year may be required upon appointment.
