Job Title: Deputy County Attorney

Job Responsibilities:
- Perform professional work under general supervision to prosecute or defend civil and/or criminal cases of moderate difficulty and complexity.
- Advise on legal matters and perform related work as assigned.
- Review legal cases to determine if sufficient cause exists to prosecute.
- Advise law enforcement officers and witnesses on legal procedures.
- File complaints on high misdemeanor, felony, and probation revocation cases.
- Prosecute or defend cases in Justice and Superior Courts.
- Confer with clients and advise them regarding their legal rights, courses of action, and the strength of a case.
- Review performance and provide instructions and guidance in court procedures, trial techniques, and matters of law.
- Conduct legal research using a computer.
- Obtain and review source documents such as police reports, medical records, and transcripts.
- Locate and interview witnesses.
- Prepare and file necessary court documents.
- Attend and participate in court appearances and legal proceedings.

Education and Experience Information:
- Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
- Current membership in the State Bar of Arizona.
- Two years of applicable legal experience.

Knowledge and Skills:
- Knowledge of principles and procedures of the Arizona justice system.
- Knowledge of the application of statutes and legal precedents.
- Knowledge of legal and administrative proceedings.
- Knowledge of the preparation of legal defenses and prosecutions.
- Skill in rendering logical, clear, and effective arguments.
- Skill in interpreting statutes, case histories, and various laws.
- Skill in effectively communicating verbally and in writing.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public.
- Skill in preparing documents with a computer.
- Ability to conduct computerized legal research.

Salary Information:
- $95, - $102, Annually
