Job Overview:
A California-based law firm is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney to join its Environment & Land Use practice group. This role is ideal for a motivated legal professional with 2–5 years of experience who has a strong interest in environmental law and regulatory matters. The firm represents both public and private clients across sectors such as renewable energy, transit, utilities, housing, and commercial development. The position offers a collaborative hybrid work environment, early substantive responsibility, and clear advancement opportunities.

Location:

  • Denver, CO

Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel on environmental and land use matters

  • Conduct due diligence for land use and environmental assessments

  • Assist clients with entitlements, permitting, and regulatory compliance

  • Advise on CEQA and NEPA compliance issues

  • Represent clients in state and federal court in defense of zoning and environmental approvals

  • Work on interdisciplinary projects alongside other practice groups such as Real Estate, Infrastructure, Eminent Domain, and Government Relations

Requirements:

  • 2–5 years of experience in environmental or land use law

  • Demonstrated interest in environmental and regulatory issues

  • Knowledge of CEQA, NEPA, and environmental/resource permitting processes

  • Litigation experience related to zoning or environmental approvals preferred

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active member in good standing with the State Bar of California (required)

Skills:

  • Excellent legal writing and research capabilities

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Effective communication and client service abilities

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

  • Collaborative approach and ability to work across practice groups
