Job Title: In-house Attorney
Job Responsibilities:
- Counsel leadership and creative teams on matters related to copyright, trademark, and intellectual property (IP) in digital media, including podcasts, websites, social platforms, software, and other digital assets.
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts such as licensing agreements, partnerships, influencer agreements, publishing contracts, and Software as a Service (SaaS) agreements.
- Protect original content and proprietary systems through registration, licensing, and strategic enforcement of intellectual property rights.
- Monitor evolving legislation and case law impacting digital media, tech policy, and public discourse, particularly those affecting digital rights, faith-based expression, and conservative voices.
- Provide guidance on data privacy compliance, particularly with regard to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), ensuring respectful treatment of user data and maintaining audience trust.
- Address content risks, including defamation, misinformation, and moderation, while upholding freedom of speech.
- Navigate legal risks and frameworks related to artificial intelligence (AI), deepfakes, and emerging technologies used in content development and delivery, including AI-generated content and algorithm transparency.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity professionals to ensure legal compliance in response to data breaches, data loss, threats, or unauthorized use of proprietary material.
Education and Experience Information:
- Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school with active bar membership.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in IP law with a strong focus on digital media and internet law.
- Familiarity with software licensing, open-source issues, and AI-related legal frameworks.
- Deep understanding of privacy laws and cybersecurity best practices.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex legal concepts for technical and creative teams.
- Strong understanding of copyright law, content regulation, and digital platform operations.
- Experience with AI and software licensing or cybersecurity legalities is highly preferred.
- Proven ability to offer clear, value-aligned counsel in high-pressure or high-profile matters.
- A commitment to purpose-driven work with boldness, discretion, and a high ethical standard.
- Strong moral compass and alignment with values-based decision-making.
- Familiarity with Christian media, conservative commentary, or freedom-based content is a plus.
Salary Information:
- Compensation ranges from $180,000 to $200,000.
- Competitive pay structure based on experience.
