Job Title: Head of Construction Defect Claims
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a large team responsible for handling all aspects of construction defect claims.
- Ensure the quality, accuracy, and timely resolution of complex and severe liability claims.
- Develop talent within the team by providing opportunities for growth and skill enhancement.
- Monitor team performance, analyze trends, and identify root cause problems to address any issues.
- Advocate for process efficiencies to improve work completion and promote a culture of continuous improvement.
- Foster a highly effective and engaged employee culture by selecting top talent, providing continuous coaching, and recognizing employee contributions.
- Promote claims customer service excellence by understanding and exceeding stakeholder expectations.
- Identify changes in claim best practices and workflows to drive high-quality outcomes and develop training solutions.
- Collaborate with IT counterparts to design, build, and test technological changes that support claims practices and workflows.
- Utilize data and analytics to make informed decisions and drive continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with internal and external business partners to ensure profitable growth.
- Develop coverage acumen and proactively manage team litigation.
Education and Experience Information:
- Significant experience in claims leadership roles within the insurance industry, particularly in Construction Defect claim management.
- Expertise in handling claims across multiple jurisdictions.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience is required.
- An advanced degree, such as a Juris Doctor (.), is preferred.
- Experience in managing a diverse group of claims teams located in multiple locations.
- Ability to directly manage and guide a team of Managers responsible for overseeing all aspects of claims handling.
- Experience participating in claims roundtable discussions focusing on coverage, liability, and assessment of damages.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present to senior leadership.
- Leadership skills, including planning, organizing, delegating, and developing direct reports.
- Ability to persuade and influence people through superior written and oral communications.
- Possess emotional intelligence and self-awareness.
- Ability to embrace changes, invite feedback, and deal constructively with criticism.
