Job Title: Tax Senior - Hedge Funds
Job Responsibilities:
Tax Seniors in the Hedge Funds sector are tasked with identifying complex tax issues and providing in-depth tax analyses for various hedge fund clients and their affiliates. Key responsibilities include:
- Understanding Subchapter K related to hedge fund structures, financial products, and related tax adjustments.
- Handling aggregate allocations, trader vs. investor determination, and identifying necessary federal, international, and state investor reporting.
- Performing detail-level review of tax workpapers, allocations, and tax returns.
- Conducting research to advise on transactional and tax planning opportunities with support from the Washington National Tax group.
- Building and maintaining relationships with client contacts to gather pertinent information.
- Training, mentoring, and supervising new and experienced-level staff.
- Attending required company Tax LLP and sector-specific training sessions.
Education and Experience Information:
Required:
- Ability to perform job responsibilities within a hybrid work model, requiring US Tax professionals to co-locate in person 2-3 days per week.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience providing tax planning services or preparing and reviewing client work papers and income tax returns.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or other business-related field.
- One of the following active accreditations obtained, in process, or willing and able to obtain:
- Licensed CPA in state of practice/primary office if eligible to sit for the CPA.
- If not CPA eligible:
- Licensed attorney
- Enrolled Agent
- Certifications:
- Chartered Financial Advisor (CFA)
- Certified Financial Planner (CFP)
- Ability to travel up to 25%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve.
Preferred:
- Advanced degree such as MST, MAcc, JD, or LLM.
- Previous Big 4 experience.
- Demonstrated basic understanding of Subchapter K, financial products, wash sale, and constructive sale rules, as well as familiarity with aggregate allocations.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, team environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of fund accounting and general ledger accounting.
Salary Information:
The wage range for this role considers a variety of factors, including skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $66,570 to $151,580. Additionally, there is potential eligibility for a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, where an award, if any, depends on various factors, including individual and organizational performance.
