Job Title: Tax Manager, Alternative Investments
Job Responsibilities:
The Tax Manager, Alternative Investments is responsible for providing tax compliance and consulting services to clients in the Venture Capital, Private Equity, Hedge Fund, and Real Estate sectors. The role involves ensuring that clients comply with all applicable tax authorities while minimizing their tax and reporting burdens. Key responsibilities include:
- Ensuring compliance with all firm policies, standards, and the **Members Only** Tax Quality Manual (TQM).
- Preparing required tax filings using a system of review and documentation to ensure full compliance and minimize tax burdens.
- Collecting all data needed to comply with filing requirements and communicating any missing items.
- Utilizing firm compliance software to maximize efficiency in the tax preparation process.
- Collaborating with Principals, Tax Seniors, and Associates on project completion, including follow-up with open items.
- Delivering high-quality federal, state, and international tax compliance services.
- Leading complex engagements with a team of tax professionals.
- Managing engagements including billing, collections, and budget for projects.
- Building and managing client relationships.
- Documenting client work and conclusions in the client tax file.
- Assisting with identifying, developing, recommending, and implementing efficient and effective tax strategies.
- Managing and mentoring teams of Tax Seniors and Associates.
Education and Experience Information:
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree required, with a focus in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics preferred.
- Master’s Degree in Accounting or Taxation preferred.
Experience:
- A minimum of five years of relevant tax experience and/or experience in public accounting, private industry accounting, or consulting/professional services is required.
- Experience in the Financial Services industry supporting Alternative Investment funds, including Venture Capital, Private Equity, Real Estate, and Hedge Funds, is preferred.
- Proficiency in the taxation of partnerships is preferred.
- Prior supervisory experience is required.
License/Certifications:
- CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a . jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (EA) required.
- Possession of other professional degrees or certifications applicable to the role is beneficial.
Software:
- Experience with Microsoft Office Tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat is preferred.
- Experience with tax research databases is preferred.
- Proficiency in tax compliance process software is preferred.
