Job Title: Associate Staff or Staff Attorney, Workers' Compensation

Job Responsibilities:
- Analyze complex and factual issues, conduct extensive and develop well-reasoned legal research.
- Independently create and present defense strategies on behalf of clients.
- Prepare complex pleadings, written discovery, depositions, petitions for reconsideration, and trial briefs in support of defense strategies with autonomy.
- Partner with Claims Partners to achieve the best results for insured clients.
- Provide effective and timely communications, information, legal advice, and other services to clients on legal and factual issues.
- Communicate with the court, witnesses, opposing counsel, and co-counsel with professional diplomacy and discretion.
- Facilitate prompt, efficient, and effective disposition of assigned cases.
- Independently prepare and present witnesses and evidence at trials, judicial/administrative hearings, arbitrations, and alternative dispute resolutions.
- Research, draft, file, and argue appellate briefs in reviewing courts on behalf of clients.
- Participate in team huddles.
- Provide in-house training to junior associates and/or claims partners.
- Participate in claims file reviews.
- Attend continuing legal education seminars to maintain a high level of professional expertise.

Education and Experience Information:

Associate Attorney:
- Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited law school and licensed to practice in the state of California, in good standing.
- Legal Internship or Law Clerk experience is preferred.
- Familiarity with the tripartite relationship is a plus.
- Commitment to providing a high level of customer service.
- Positive-minded and collaborative team-player attitude.
- Excellent legal research and writing skills.
- Strong MS Office proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- Effective communicator with strong negotiation skills.
- Ability to think strategically and a desire to be challenged.

Staff Attorney:
- Minimum of 2 years of legal practice experience handling complex Workers’ Compensation cases.
- Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited law school and licensed to practice in the state of California, in good standing.
- Trial experience preferred.
- Positive-minded and collaborative team-player attitude.
- Strong legal research and writing skills.
- Solid MS Office proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- Lexis Nexis experience is a plus.
- Self-directed with excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
- Ability to think strategically and a desire to be challenged.
- Strong computer skills and the ability to quickly leverage new software as required.

Salary Information:
The annualized base pay range for this role is $81,840-$172,200. The listed range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market and may vary based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency, and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is one component of the company’s total compensation package for employees, which may also include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The posted salary range reflects the company's ability to hire at different position titles and levels depending on background and experience.

Additional Information:
This position is a remote work opportunity with required travel 1-4 days per week within Los Angeles, Marina Del Rey, Van Nuys, and Oxnard, California. Flexible work arrangements are offered, and the work environment is business casual. High-speed broadband internet service is required for remote positions, with specific technical requirements for connectivity.
