Job Title: Distinguished Applied Researcher
Overview:

Job Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with a cross-functional team of data scientists, software engineers, machine learning engineers, and product managers to deliver AI-powered products that transform customer interactions with their finances.
- Utilize a diverse technology stack, including Pytorch, AWS Ultraclusters, Huggingface, Lightning, and VectorDBs, to extract insights from large volumes of numeric and textual data.
- Develop AI foundation models through all stages of development, including design, training, evaluation, validation, and implementation.
- Conduct high-impact applied research to advance AI developments and enhance customer experiences.
- Translate complex work into tangible business goals using interpersonal skills.
Education and Experience Information:
Basic Qualifications:
- PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, AI, Mathematics, or related fields with a minimum of 4 years of experience in Applied Research, or
- . in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, AI, Mathematics, or related fields with a minimum of 6 years of experience in Applied Research.
Preferred Qualifications:
- PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Computer Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, or related fields.
- Experience and focus on NLP or a Master’s degree with 10 years of industrial NLP research experience.
- Core contributor to a team that has trained a large language model from scratch or through continued pre-training.
- Numerous publications at conferences such as ACL, NAACL, EMNLP, Neurips, ICML, or ICLR on topics related to pre-training large language models.
- Experience with common training optimization frameworks such as deep speed and nemo.
- Demonstrated ability to guide the technical direction of a large-scale model training team.
Salary Information:
The salary for a Distinguished Applied Researcher varies by location:
- Sales Territory: $273,000 - $311,500
- Cambridge, MA: $300,200 - $342,600
- McLean, VA: $300,200 - $342,600
- New York, NY: $327,600 - $373,800
- Richmond, VA: $273,000 - $311,500
- San Francisco, CA: $327,600 - $373,800
The salary information is for candidates hired to perform work within these locations and reflects the amount the company is willing to pay at the time of posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based on the agreed number of hours to be worked regularly.
Additional Information:
The role is eligible for performance-based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonuses and/or long-term incentives.
