Senior Director/VP of Customs and Trade Compliance - North America
**Members Only** is seeking a Senior Director/VP of Customs and Trade Compliance to lead the customs and trade compliance function across North America. This executive will ensure the company's compliance with regulatory requirements for importing and exporting goods in the ., Mexico, and Canada, while optimizing customs processes, training, and mitigating risks. The ideal candidate will have extensive international experience, a strong legal and finance/tax background, and a deep understanding of customs and trade laws in North America.

Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a North America and Mexico-wide trade compliance strategy aligned with global policies
- Lead teams in the ., Mexico, and Canada to ensure compliance with laws, trade agreements, and risk mitigation
- Communicate regulatory updates, maintain internal controls, and oversee audits and risk assessments
- Ensure compliance with customs regulations, including classification, valuation, origin, and FTZ
- Develop industry-specific compliance programs for anti-dumping, export controls, and IP protection
- Oversee customs operations for timely and cost-effective clearance, utilizing technology for improvements
- Conduct risk assessments, implement corrective actions, and automate compliance via GTMS
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including legal, finance, and logistics to align compliance with business goals
- Engage with customs authorities and consultants while training staff on compliance best practices
- Ensure accurate declarations, fiscal, legal and tax alignment, and maintain required records and permits
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's in Law (preferred), Finance, and International Trade (Master's preferred)
- 15+ years of experience in Legal, Finance, and international trade with a focus on North America
- Proven leadership of 15+ member teams
- Expertise in customs laws, trade agreements, and export controls
- Experience in brokerage, classification, valuation, and duty drawback
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and risk mitigation skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management
- Ability to work independently and cross-functionally
- Familiarity with customs compliance software and data analytics preferred
- Fluent in English and Spanish preferred
Preferred Qualifications:
- Global operations experience in multinational organizations
- Knowledge of C-TPAT, AEO, and customs security programs
- Expertise in trade remedies and FTAs/rules of origin
Travel Requirements:
- 20-30% travel within North America may be required
