A law firm seeks an experienced Municipal Law Associate to join its team in Los Angeles, CA. The role involves providing legal counsel on a variety of municipal law matters, including land use, open meeting laws, election law, and public safety. The ideal candidate will have 3 to 5 years of experience in municipal transactional law, including advising public agencies and drafting legal documents.
Duties:
- Advise public agency clients on municipal law matters such as land use, public safety, election law, and open meeting laws.
- Draft ordinances, resolutions, and other legal documents for local government clients.
- Address complex legal issues relating to public agency operations and governance.
- Provide counsel on conflicts of interest, free speech regulations, and other public sector legal concerns.
- Represent clients in public meetings, providing legal advice and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Assist in the development of strategies for municipal legal matters, working closely with senior attorneys and clients.
Requirements:
- Must be licensed to practice law in California.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in municipal transactional law, including public agency work.
- Experience drafting ordinances, resolutions, and legal counsel on matters such as land use, open meetings, and election law.
- Comfortable advising during public meetings and addressing legal concerns in real time.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work independently.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal issues clearly.
Education:
- Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school.
Certifications:
- Active membership in the State Bar of California.
