Job Responsibilities:
The Fall 2025 Law Clerk position within the Post Conviction Defender's Division involves a variety of responsibilities aimed at supporting the organization's mission to ensure fairness in criminal convictions and uphold the integrity of the criminal justice system. Law clerks will engage in:
- Conducting legal research and analysis to support ongoing cases.
- Performing investigations related to post-conviction proceedings.
- Writing legal memorandums, post-conviction petitions, and motions for modification.
- Interviewing incarcerated clients both in prison and via video conference.
Education and Experience Information:
Qualified applicants for the Fall 2025 Law Clerk position should be current law students or recent law school graduates. The role is designed to provide hands-on experience in a client-centered and team-based environment, allowing law clerks to work closely with attorneys, investigators, paralegals, social workers, and other support staff. Salary Information:

Additional Information:
The application process for the Fall 2025 Law Clerk position is centralized, but final selections are made by the Post Conviction Defender's Division. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, with opportunities available during the spring semester (January-May), fall semester (September-December), and summer (May-August). Applicants must submit their materials, including a resume, cover letter, list of four professional references, a writing sample no longer than 15 pages, and an undergraduate transcript, by August 1, 2025. This is an in-person position, requiring a commitment of at least 10 weeks starting by September 2, 2025.
Law clerks are expected to commit to consistent workdays and hours for the duration of their clerkship to support the organization's mission of tenacious advocacy and zealous representation of clients.
