Job Title: Tax Senior
Job Responsibilities:
The Tax Senior at the company is responsible for assisting companies with national, state, and local tax structures and aligning the tax function with business objectives. This role involves aiding clients with fundamental tax planning and analysis, understanding company-specific business and tax issues, and identifying and mitigating risk areas. Under the supervision of Tax Managers, the Tax Senior oversees tax consulting projects for clients across diverse industries, researching and analyzing a wide range of tax issues encountered on engagements.
The Tax Senior assumes tax-planning responsibilities for federal clients and assists with the supervision of assignments. They identify tax planning opportunities, implement tax planning projects, and provide tax research and analysis for clients in various industries, ensuring they stay up-to-date on current tax practices and technical issues. Developing a working knowledge of the client's business and tax systems, the Tax Senior takes responsibility for clearing open items related to assigned areas, meeting client deadlines, and contributing to the successful completion of projects. Actively participating in engagement planning and decision-making is a key aspect of the role. The position requires commuting within the Costa Mesa, CA area to perform these duties.
Education and Experience Information:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's (or higher) degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, Law, or a related field, with the company willing to accept foreign education equivalents. Additionally, candidates should have eighteen (18) months of experience as a Tax Senior or in a related occupation, gaining experience in providing tax planning services or preparing and reviewing client work papers and tax returns.
The required experience includes:
1. Preparing federal and state income tax returns for individuals, partnerships, and LLCs.
2. Utilizing tax software, including GoSystem Tax RS and CCH Axcess, to prepare federal, state, and local income tax returns, calculate estimated tax, and process filings.
3. Utilizing tax research tools, such as CCH AnswerConnect and RIA Checkpoint, to provide tax compliance and consulting services to various clients.
4. Reviewing and preparing quarterly and annual projections and quarterly estimated tax payments.
5. Preparing book-to-tax reconciliation and creating taxable income allocations.
6. Performing research for tax matters in the federal gift, charitable, trust, and generation-skipping tax arenas.
7. Mentoring and coaching junior team members.
The position requires less than 10% domestic travel outside of normal commuting distance.
Salary Information:
The annual salary for the Tax Senior position ranges from $81, to $151,.
